I like this pool, but the hours are super limited for anyone working a full time 9-5 (the only realistic option for open lap swim is Friday evening or Saturday in the day).

Please consider opening for lap swim on Sundays and/or another weekday evening!!!

The North Beach Pool has an interesting set up. There are actually 2 separate pools in this facility- one “cold” pool, ranging between 77-78° F, and one “warm” pool, ranging between 86-88° F. The differing temperatures in the two distinct pools strike me as odd. The temperatures aren’t as extreme as you might find in a day spa- contrasting a hot tub session with a cold plunge. It was a small facility, and I would anticipate that 4 lanes total, 2 for serious lap swimmers, would get crowded at times. However, when I visited, there were max 3 people in the cold pool, which was manageable.

CLOSED MAY 7-20 for maintenance ☹️

The best pool for the little kids in the city - separate warm water pool, with gradual edge on one side, free kids floating devices rental (first come first serve basis), super friendly lifeguards & staff.

And please add Sunday opening hours too, families would love it!

This is one of our Safe places in the neighborhood. The staff is kind(most of them) and treat King so well. We give thanks for what they add to our world (no inside pics allowed)

If the men's locker room (can't speak for women's) was 3 or 4 degrees warmer I would give three stars. Even though the dry sauna is pretty great, the reason I can't give 4 or 5 stars is because this facility is in the business of rushing people along...this is SF, and a nice neighborhood to boot. Simply asking a person if they would like to pay for more time would be appropriate and respectful, but the way it works here feels a bit military summer camp...try for yourself‍♂️.

I love the convenience of this pool however PLEASE consider changing your hours so that folks working a typical 9-5pm can actually come swim.

Right now, the only options are Friday evening and Saturday. Otherwise, the pool is NOT open in the evenings nor on Sundays, which would be the most ideal time for a swim. It's really hard to be able to fit swimming into my schedule because of the unusual hours.

I am a retired professional swimmer, new to the city, and looking for my new spot to swim laps. North Beach Pool was just OK.

The pool is located in a bustling part of San Francisco- right on Lombard, and you can expect to circle the block for parking. I did expect this ahead of time, and was pleasantly surprised to only circle once & find parking on Chestnut- just 1 block away. $7 is the fee for lap swim, standard at all SF city pools. When I visited in April 2022, they were only accepting cash.

The locker rooms are shabby and could use some updating- but the basics are there. There is a communal shower space, lockers for day use, and curtained changed areas, and a swim suit dryer. Although it is definitely dated, it didn’t feel particularly dirty or inadequate.

The North Beach pool space is definitely a bare-bones facility, but the warm pool and the sauna make this a good spot for anyone seeking warm water therapy or just a nice recovery swim session.
